Turnips are one of the most delicious late autumn roots. Slightly peppery, with a crisp and starchy texture, they are a fantastic addition to your mashes, soups and stews as they get sweeter and nuttier when cooked. Turnips are great eaten raw. You can slice them thinly and dress with olive oil and lemon or grate them and mix with carrots and celery. The best autumn salad!
